New Ubuntu Jaunty,Intrepid,Hardy  packages for  0.99.16. at the usual place
https://edge.launchpad.net/~cherokee-webserver/+archive/ppa

For Debian Unstable this will wait for  0.99.17


I've removed the  php5-cgi dependency.
